Juan O'Gorman began as an architect in a spectacular way at the age of 24, with the project of a house that he began to build in 1929 and finished in 1931.

Thanks to her, Diego Rivera commissioned his studio house and that of Frida Kahlo, built in 1931–1932 on the neighboring property. These were restored in 1995 and 1996, respectively, which marked a rediscovery of O'Gorman and his place in contemporary Mexican architecture. However, it was not until 2012–2013 that his first project from 1929 was restored, where it already shows an uncompromising radicalism that places him not only as a pioneer in the avant-garde of Mexican architecture, but in that of any place on the planet: fully glazed surfaces , a staircase that seems to defy gravity, among others.
