The series of works that make up this book have their origins in a set of magazines about nudist camps that Lakra bought at the Sunday market in Brick Lane, London.
He tells us about it: “I bought the magazines at the Brick Lane Sunday market in one go, there were around twenty magazines that cost me five pounds, or something like that, extremely cheap. That day it was raining and they were all wet.”
The silhouettes that Lakra draws in the magazines are made with Indian ink and then he scratches them with needles used for tattooing. Some of the tattoos are made with the same ink but very diluted, and others with a pencil. He also uses vinyl and white wash.
